Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has congratulated Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka on his 89th birthday.
Obi said in a statement on Thursday that Soyinka has remained a revered and renowned figure, held in extremely high regard by Nigerians and people worldwide.
The former governor of Anambra State referred to the literary giant as his “respected father,” and he celebrated his birthday with his family, friends, and admirers.

He wrote: “My respected dear father Prof. Wole Soyinka, I join your family, friends and admirers in celebrating with you as you mark your 89th birthday today.

“I salute your commitment and contributions in the struggle for a better Nigeria and humanity.
“While wishing you many happy returns of this day, I pray God to grant you more health of mind and body as you continue to positively contribute to our collective nation-building efforts.”
