Nigerians on social media reacted to the Department of State Services (DSS) Twitter handler’s rant on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023.

According to news sources, the secret police humiliated a legal practitioner, Maxwell Okpara, in a series of tweets for dragging the agency to court.

This comes after Okpara and other lawyers filed a contempt of court case against the DSS and its Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, for the continuing arrest of suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The DSS criticized Okpara for defending the suspended CBN Governor, describing him as a Biafra agitator and charge and bail lawyer.

The agency wrote: “Charge and bail, overzealous uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer Maxwell Okpara mobilises other like minded lawyers against DGSS. Futile Efforts. Well, Nigerians, beware! This is in bad faith. Transferred aggression.

“A Biafran Republic agitator and Outlawed IPOB counsel defending the suspended CBN Governor. Is IPOB defending one of theirs???? What a contradiction…..hmmm…what’s the connection? Is someone telling us something? May Maxwell be properly educated on points of law, please.”

The inciting tweets by the secret police stirred uncomfortable reactions from Nigerians who were shocked by the language of the DSS.
