His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, the current governor of Akwa Ibom State hosted the Chairman/CEO of Nigeria’s indigenous automobile company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, IVM, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma CON to a meeting at the Government House, Uyo.
The meeting which was held on Wednesday, July 19th 2023, was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Economic Adviser to the State, Uduakobong Inam , Chairman Ibom Air, Pastor Imo- Abasi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Anietie Usen, Prof. Vincent Anibogu and Mr. Ekerette Udo the CPS in a bid to ameliorate the effects of rising petrol costs by tackling the rising cost of transportation. The need to patronize Made in Nigeria products also necessitated this proactive move by the Akwa Ibom State Government.

At the meeting, the Governor, a successful businessman and Nigerian clergy gave reasons for the need to invest in vehicles with alternative solutions and why the IVM brand was selected.
“I am choosing to do business with you because I like to encourage Nigerians to do things with their hands and to get involved in Entrepreneurship”.
“The Innoson story is a classic example of a Nigerian who has identified a gap and decided to fill it… From that humble beginning, with honesty and integrity…Today, you are running one of the most successful vehicle manufacturing chains in this country and we are extremely very proud of you”.
In response, the Innoson Boss proffered solutions to the transportation needs of the state and outlined vehicles most suitable in each case.
” On my arrival and seeing the governor, I know that Akwa Ibom state is in good hands, what he is doing shows that he carries everyone in mind, by patronizing made in Nigeria, which is the way forward for this nation…Any vehicle you need in this state, Minibusses, trucks any other type, we will build it. Akwa – Ibom State has seen the future and if the future is good here, it will reach everywhere”.

Pst. Umo Eno appreciated Innoson Vehicles for his prompt response and revealed that Akwa – Ibom State is set to tap into the innovation of CNG/ LNG vehicles produced at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company.
“We need some of these vehicles, especially for our school children and to reduce the cost of transportation for our people using intercity buses and other utility vehicles that make use of CNG”.
The IVM CEO thanked him immensely for deciding to work with Innoson Vehicles on the timely intervention.
“I know that with you, coming to Akwa Ibom is not something that will end today, you have shown me love, love from the country and I appreciate that.”
The meeting featured presentations from the IVM management on the safety, durability, and affordability of the vehicles. Impressed by the quality of the vehicles brought by the IVM team, H.E. Governor Umo Eno purchased an Innoson G6T and is set to make more purchases for the state.
