The administration of Anambra State has locked off the Cosmila Hotel in Awka, the state capital, following the death of a lady, Miss Chinyere Awuda, in the facility.
The lady was beaten to death by some partygoers who partied in the hotel last weekend to celebrate the birthday of a friend.
However, different stories of Miss Awuda’s death exist. While some claim she was accused of picking and pocketing money supposed to be sprayed on the celebrant, others claim she stole some money meant to be sprayed and managed to flee before being captured.

While state police acknowledged that the celebrant and his companions were accused of murdering the girl and discarding her body in a pool have been arrested, the state commissioner for culture, tourism and entertainment, Hon Don Onyeji said the hotel has been sealed.
Onyenji who spoke to Newsmen on the phone said: “Yes, we have visited the hotel, and also sealed it off.
“We are in touch with the police, who are already investigating the matter, and the facility will remain sealed, pending the outcome of the police investigation.”
