Charly Boy Reveals Why His Father Stopped Attending Social Gatherings After He Became A Judge

Charles Oputa, commonly known as Charly Boy, a veteran Nigerian singer, has revealed how his late father, Chukwudifu Oputa,’s manner of life altered after he became a judge.

According to the veteran, when his father was only a prominent lawyer in Port Harcourt in the 1960s, he was usually seen at various social parties celebrating.

Charly Boy, on the other hand, reported that after his father became a judge in 1965, he stopped attending social occasions.

When his father was questioned about the cause for the change, the elderly Oputa informed his children that judges should stay out of public life entirely.

Charly remarked that judges no longer follow that kind of motto.

Speaking via Twitter, the entertainer wrote, “I remember in the 1960s when my father was a successful lawyer in Portharcout, everyday seemed like Xmass bcos he was always celebrating one tin or the other.

“As soon as he was made a Judge in 1965 everything changed.

“He hardly attended any social functions, the house parties suddenly seized.

“When my siblings and I would query him as to the sudden change, he would give us a long lecture on how Judges should completely abstain from public life.
