Women’s World Cup: Nigeria Beat Australia 3-2 For First Win

At Brisbane Stadium on Thursday, the Super Falcons defeated Australia 3-2.
The Nigerian woman defeated her opponent to earn her team’s first victory of the match and the sixth victory overall in the Women’s World Cup’s history.

The nine-time African champions have only won four games in the competition’s history, according to the ANAEDOONLINE, two of which came in 1999 (against North Korea and Denmark), one in 2011 (against Canada), and one in 2019 (where they also defeated North Korea 2-0).

With the victory, the Super Falcon’s chances of moving on to the round of 16 have increased after Canada defeated Ireland 2-1 on Wednesday.

In their opening match at the tournament, the Falcons displayed defensive prowess, including goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saving a penalty, to secure a commendable point.
