No Difference Between What Is Happening In Nigeria And Niger Republic – Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu, a well-known Nigerian activist, has spoken out in response to the coup in Niger Republic.

The president of Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum, was held prisoner on Wednesday by angry soldiers of the elite Presidential Guard, who were then handed a “ultimatum” by the army to free the embattled Islamic leader.

The West African bloc, ECOWAS, condemned the “attempted coup” and urged the “plotters” to release Bazoum immediately and unconditionally.

Bazoum’s victory was the first democratic transfer of power in a country that had experienced four military coups since its independence from France in 1960.

President Bola Tinubu, who also serves as the head of ECOWAS, has stated that the organization will not allow any condition that renders the democratically elected government ineffective.

Speaking about the anarchy in Niger Republic, Yesufu asserted that the same issue exists in Nigeria.

Tinubu, according to the activist, is not a real president.

Speaking via Twitter, Yesufu wrote, “There is no difference between what happened in Niger and what happened in Nigeria.
