Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was returned to the Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday.

This came after he was released on Saturday to see his personal physician, as ordered by a Federal High Court in Abuja on July 20.

The judge overruled DSS’s objections, granted Kanu medical access for a suspected ear infection that may necessitate surgery.

He stated that Kanu, who had been jailed since 2021, had been evaluated by his personal physicians before being returned to DSS custody.

Kanu’s medical check took held in a hospital in Abuja, away from DSS facility, according to Ejiofor’s prior tweet.

The lawyer present at the session described it as “seamless and productive,” and indicated that the following stage would be completed soon.

He wrote, “Sequel to our avowed assurance to always keep Ezigbo UmuChineke abreast of pertinent happenings, especially with Onyendu’s health status, welfare, and update on his legal matters, we are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service.
