The Nigerian Senate has vetted and confirmed Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for a cabinet position to be disclosed later.
On Thursday, July 27, President Tinubu delivered a list of 28 ministerial nominations to the Senate through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with some expected and unexpected names making the cut.
Today, Monday, July 31, the Senate finally began examining the nominees.

After reviewing Wike’s curriculum vitae (CV), Senate President Godswill Akpabio questioned him if he would manage Rivers with the same enthusiasm he governed Rivers with if given the opportunity to serve in the ministerial position.
Wike responded positively.
Wike received a succession of commendations from senators in the chamber, Wike was asked to take a bow and was confirmed fit for the ministerial appointment.
