Anambra CP Visits Officers Injured During Raid On Gunmen’s Camp

Aderemi Adeoye, the commissioner of police for Anambra State, has visited two police officers who were hurt during a recent raid on a gunmen’s hideout.

Following a tip-off, joint security operators made up of soldiers, police, neighborhood watch members, and civil defense workers confronted criminals on Monday in a camp where they were enforcing sit-at-home orders issued by separatist elements.

Five troops and two police officers were hurt when hoodlums threw a local bomb at them, according to Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, public relations officer, Defence Headquarters, Nigeria Army. Four of the hoodlums were captured, he added.

In a press release, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “The visit is to boost the morale and spur officers to greatness while discharging their statutory duties with the assurance that their welfare is of paramount importance to the leadership of the Force.

“CP made a cash donation to the officers and prayed for their quick recovery while assuring them that the police force would not abandon or leave them behind.”

In the statement, Commissioner of Police Adeoye gave the people of Anambra State the assurance that the command is more motivated than ever to apprehend criminals and make the state’s whole population feel safe conducting their lawful business.
