Many Nigerians have claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is waging war against them. Former presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad has responded to these claims.

This happened when Oyo State Lawmaker Akin Akinwale posted PUNCH’s recent interview with a Nigerian, who has been named as Umar Abubakar, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Abubakar, who fled the Niger Republic, claims that many of the country’s residents are enraged and think the Nigerian government is waging war against them.

In response to Abubakar’s statement in the interview, Akinwale stated that there is a significant need for education and knowledge among the country’s common inhabitants.

He wrote: “A Nigerian, Umar Abubakar, who escaped from Niger, says to a layman in the Niger Republic now, Nigeria is waging war against them and that they don’t know what ECOWAS is about.

“He also said that the ordinary citizens in the Niger Republic need serious sensitisation to understand what ECOWAS is doing is for their sake.

“This is a clarion call on ECOWAS to intensify efforts in raising awareness among the average citizens of Niger Republic”

Additionally responding, Bashir claimed that the Nigerians’ misperception of President Tinubu’s proposal to reestablish democracy in the state alongside the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a false signal in a tweet published on Twitter.

He pointed out that certain recent initiatives and interventions are yielding fruitful outcomes, and he anticipates that things will improve over the following days and weeks.

He tweeted, “To be honest, that is a wrong signal. Thank God the recent efforts and interventions are showing positive results. I’m hopeful that in the upcoming days or weeks, Nigeria and ECOWAS will find amicable solutions to the situation in Niger Republic.”
