Angry Soldiers Brutalise LASTMA Official In Lagos

An angry soldier attacked a LASTMA officer in the early hours of Monday in the Ojota neighborhood of Lagos State, beating him into a stupor over an undetermined traffic infraction.

According to a witness, the incident occurred at 8 a.m. when eight soldiers grabbed the LASTMA official and beat him for a while.
The LASTMA officer was beaten up by the soldiers in a viral video as he pleaded for them to leave him alone.

As other LASTMA officers fled the area, one of the attackers was observed punching the officer to the ground.
Retaliatory violence

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the action was in retaliation over am incident where LASTMA officers were alleged to have beaten up a soldier in same Ojota area last week.

On today’s incident, they invading soldiers, armed with guns, descended on the officer with punches and planks before disappearing from the scene.

It was gathered that the victim, in a state of stupor, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Contacted, General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, through the Director Operations, Mr. A. Peter, confirmed the incident to Reports

He said: “We have reported the incident to the higher authorities of the army. They are already intervening in the matter

“We will update you in due course. The act is totally condemnable.”
