The Organized Labor has pledged to go forward with a complete, all-encompassing, and indefinite statewide shutdown of the nation should the current 617 naira pump price for gasoline be increased again in a manner it deems “illegal.”

At the African Trade Union Alliance conference on Monday in Abuja, where organized labor also issued a warning against undercutting the union’s demands, NLC President Joe Ajaero announced the announcement.

The ANAEDOONLINE had previously reported that oil merchants on Sunday stated that, should the dollar continue to trade between N910 and N950 on the black market, the price of Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as gasoline, will jump to between N680/lite and N720/litre in the coming weeks.

They also hinted that dealers seeking to import PMS were being forced to put the plans on hold due to the scarcity of foreign exchange to import the commodity.

The organised labour had early suspended a proposed indefinite strike on Thursday, August 4, 2023, following a meeting with the President, Bola Tinubu.
