UPDATE: 21 Soldiers, Top Army Officers Killed In Fresh Attack In Niger

In a recent attack in Niger State, some unidentified gunmen who were likely bandits killed 21 troops and top army officers.

According to information acquired by Naija News, the military were ambushed in Kundu via Zungeru in the Niger state’s Wushishi Local Government Area (LGA).

When the bandits ambushed the security personnel, killing five vigilantes and injuring five more, it was discovered that they were attempting to stop the criminals from fleeing with some stolen cattle.

According to reliable information, the bandits attempted to pass from Akere to the northern regions of the country after robbing many communities of their livestock.

The bodies of the 21 military troops were allegedly dumped at the same Zungeru hospital where the injured vigilante group was receiving medical care, according to an eyewitness who talked to Channels Television.

It was also disclosed that eight more soldiers died in the ambush on Monday, which apparently involved a two-star captain and a major, after 13 of the soldiers were slain in an incident on Sunday.

Sani Adamu, a wounded vigilante, told reporters that the army personnel and the attackers engaged in a fire war inside a radius of less than 100 metres, but that there were casualties because the criminals’ weapons were more advanced than their own.
