Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, met on Tuesday night in Abuja, according to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Remember that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chose Atiku to run for president in the recently concluded 2023 general election? On the other hand, the NNPP’s presidential candidate was Kwankwaso.

Atiku petitioned the court to have President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had been proclaimed the winner, removed, but Kwankwaso declined to do the same.

Kwankwaso and Atiku have comparable national values and objectives despite belonging to different political parties, according to Ladipo Johnson, a NNPP chieftain and spokesperson for the party’s 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, who provided additional information about the encounter.

He told The PUNCH: “They believe in the unity of the country, and that is exactly what brought them together on Tuesday. They met in Kwankwaso’s residence, and they discussed the general state of affairs of the nation.

“You know the situation in the country is such that leaders who care about this country need to speak up. Apart from the affairs of the nation, they also discussed the situation in Niger and the best possible way to go about it, considering the action already taken by the military junta in that country.
