Governors Now Demigods, Wealthier Than Their States – Edwin Clark

Edwin Clark, the head of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has referred to several state governors as demigods since they possess nearly every material good.

Clark wrote in his 688-page autobiography, “Brutally Frank,” which was published last week in Abuja, that many people who had never been wealthy or influential before became so overnight because they were elected governors.

The governors were also charged by the previous Federal Commissioner for Information of using their office to quickly gain fortune for their own benefit and that of their family and other loved ones.

The wise man said that some governors have amassed fortunes greater than those of their states.

He said: “It is a pity that Governors who were nowhere yesterday, become so rich and powerful overnight because they were elected Governors. Their powers as governors and the money they have access to allow them to do anything, except that which God has not permitted them to do. In fact, some governors have become so wealthy that they are wealthier than their states.

“Contracts are awarded at inflated prices, and the governor has to take 80% of the project for himself, and only 20% goes to the state which he serves. This is illicit and criminal. Governors are now demigods because they own almost everything imaginable.”
