Justice Margaret Igbetar, a former president of the Customary Court of Appeal in Makurdi, Benue State, was slain by gunmen.
Her son reportedly found her remains at her home on Wantor Kwange Street, across from the School of Medicine at Benue State University, on Thursday evening.
According to a family member, the body had already begun to deteriorate when it was discovered in the woman’s home.
The source added that the murder was reported to the “E” Division Police station in Makurdi as soon as the woman’s body was found.

“Her corpse seems to be decomposing at the time the body was found, suggesting, she must have been killed before Thursday,” the source continued.
The Divisional Police Officer, SP Daniel Ezeala could not be immediately reached for comments but a competent police source confirmed the incident.
