Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra State has paid an estimated 480 landlords out of more than 500 whose buildings were destroyed for the construction of the Ekwulobia flyover.
This occurs as work on the N10.100 billion project, which will last for 18 months, as well as the construction of four adjacent highways to the town, has begun in earnest.
The President General of the Ekwulobia People’s Assembly, Nze Azubuike Izuchukwu, confirmed this situation by stating that although over 500 buildings had been demolished, only around 10 percent of them remain for settlement.

“We are happy with the fly over Project because we never thought it was possible during our time but it is happening before us”
“It started with mix feelings among our people and some didn’t like it but they later accepted to allow the project and you know for you to get this type of development you have to pay some price for that,” he said.
Speaking at the same time, the site engineer for A.G Vision Construction Nigeria LTD, Mr. Nawar Deep, stated that the contract covers four roads that are adjacent to one another: the 2.0 km Nanka-Ekwulobia-Aguata LGA Headquarters road, the 0.825 km Ekwulobia-Oko road, and the 1.25 km Ekwulobia-Isuofia road.
In addition to the Nanka- Obi Adimora road, which will cost N748 million, he added that they were also building four more nearby roads: Nanka-Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA Headquarters, Ekwulobia- Oko route, and Ekwulobia-Isuofia roads.
