On Wednesday, a cow in the Agege Area of Lagos State abattoir headbutted a 30-year-old man named Ubani Usman to death.
According to reports, the cow escaped the slaughterhouse at 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, causing the disaster.
An eyewitness who spoke to Reports on Thursday claimed that despite the police’s best efforts to apprehend the ferocious cow after they stormed the abattoir, the butchers in the neighborhood refused to deliver the cow for arrest.

According to the source, who asked to remain anonymous out of concern for retaliation, the deceased victim was immediately taken to the local general hospital for treatment before being later declared dead by a doctor on duty.
The source said, “The man was standing not far from the abattoir when the incident happened. The cow broke loose, and before we knew it, it had rammed the man down. We took the victim to the general hospital in the area, but he was later confirmed dead by a doctor.
“When the policemen came to arrest the ram and the owners, the people in the abattoir were not helpful at all. So no arrest has been made.”
When contacted, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, was not available to confirm this as his phone rang out and a message sent to him had yet to be responded to as of the time this report was filed.
