Hon. Uchenna Eledimmuo’s election as an APGA House of Representatives member for the Nnewi north/Nnewi south/Ekwusigo federal seat has just been declared invalid by the Anambra state Election Petition Tribunal.
Eight polling places in Nnewi North LGA were declared invalid by the tribunal as part of its ruling for excessive voting. In addition to ordering INEC to hold a bye election in the affected voting units within 90 days, the Tribunal went ahead and revoked the certificate of return that had been granted to Hon. Eleodimmuo.
According to AIF Media, the three-person panel subtracted the results of the eight voting places that were annulled from the total number of votes the APGA candidate received, and as a result, he is only ahead of Hon. Uzokwe Peter of the YPP by 29 votes. As a result of this decision, Hon. Eleodimmuo is anticipated to resign from the House of Representatives with immediate effect, pending the completion of the bye election at the 8 voting places in the following 90 days.
