NLC Strike: Shehu Sani Warns Nigerians Against Resorting To Violence

Shehu Sani, a former legislator from Kaduna Central, has issued a warning against violence ahead of the Nigerian Labour Congress’ (NLC) anticipated protest on Tuesday.

Sani stated that all disputes could be settled through discussion and urged Nigerians not to use force to enforce their desires.

The former legislator expressed his opinions through a statement made available to Newsmen on Monday, saying that Nigeria has made small advances through democratic procedures that should be protected at all costs.

He pointed out that while violence is not a part of a democratic society, protests and strikes are.

According to him, “We should not lose hope and resort to violence. There are modest gains in our democratic process that need to be preserved and sustained.

“Protest and strikes are components of a democratic society, but not violence.”

Sani has spoken on the ongoing conflict between Philip Shaibu, the governor of the Edo state, and Godwin Obaseki.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the two have been at odds over a purported plot to impeach Shaibu.

At a recent event in the state, the deputy governor and his media assistant were also humiliated earlier this week.

On September 2, Sani referred to the conflict between the two presidents as “war” in a message that was published on his Twitter account.

In the upcoming gubernatorial race, the former congressman predicted that the Labour Party (LP) or the All Progressives Congress (APC) will profit from the ongoing political struggle.

He said, “Edo: Obaseki and Shuaibu war will benefit LP or APC.”
