Following their announcement that they will be going on a two-day statewide strike starting on Tuesday, September 5th, Nigerian banks sparked comments on social media.

The banks announced that financial services would be discontinued on September 5 and 6, 2023, in a memo dated September 2.

The instruction was issued by the National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institution Employees (NUBIFE), and it was signed by Mohammed I. Sheikh, the union’s general secretary.
