According to the renewed hope agenda, all road contractors working with the federal government must sign a 30-year indemnity for the road contracts, according to Minister of Works David Umahi.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the minister revealed the information on Monday during the ongoing media briefing at Mabushi Headquarters.

He claimed that the government, led by President Bola Tinubu, had taken the action to ensure that contractors would be committed to their work and would provide value for their money.

The federal government’s first objective is to develop good, long-lasting roads, but the minister claimed that even if concrete technology is a better alternative than asphalt technology, contractors will be obliged to build roads out of concrete.

He claimed that although asphalt technology could last 30 years, concrete technology could last 50 years.

Additionally, he stated that in order to improve vision on both sides of the roadway, contractors must remove the sides of the roads they build.

Meanwhile, Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, has urged the minister of works to take immediate action to improve the state’s appalling federal highways.

The governor voiced disappointment in the state’s federal roadways and emphasised the need for immediate repair to reduce people’ suffering.
