Two Suspects Arrested For Robbery, Vandalising Second Niger Bridge

On the Second Niger Bridge in Anambra State, officers from the Anambra State Police Command detained two suspect robbers who were known for robbing unsuspecting people of their belongings.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects are from the states of Enugu and Ebonyi. Ikenga claimed that last week, while on a surveillance patrol, security personnel from Harbour Division were made aware of the gang’s activities close to the bridge’s Obosi end in Anambra.

He claimed that the undercover police team attacked the group and detained two of them while the others fled.

“When searched, two daggers and five SIM cards, removed from previously stolen phones, were recovered from the suspects aged between 20 and 22 years,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Aderemi Adeoye, has commended the police team for its vigilance and courage in confronting the gang.

He directed that owners of the recovered SIM cards be located with a view to assembling evidence for successful prosecution of the arrested suspects.
