Tuesday saw an agreement between the Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) to give the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu two weeks to address some of the complaints of the Congress.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Solomon Lalong, following a meeting with the Trade Union Congress leadership, which was led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The Minister called the conference to settle disagreements between the TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress and to prevent the impending warning strike by organised labour.

According to Lalong, the concerns with a two-week deadline for settlement include wage awards for federal government servants to mitigate the impact of their rising rates of poverty, and tax exemption for a certain level of workers, both in the public and private sectors.
