Nigeria Earns N1.10bn From Rail Transport Passengers in Q2 2023

According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ most recent report, “Rail Transportation Data (Q2 2023),” Nigeria made N1.10 billion from passengers using rail transportation in the second quarter of 2023.

According to the report, 474,117 people used Nigeria’s rail system during the review period, up from the 422,393 passengers registered during the same quarter of 2022.

The number showed a growth rate of 12.25%.

The amount of money taken in from travellers in Q2 2023 was N1.10 billion, an increase of 83.88 percent over the N598.74 million reported in the same quarter the year before.

Likewise, 56,029 tonnes of goods/cargo were transported in Q2 2023 as opposed to 31,197 tonnes in Q2 2022.

Revenue from the rail transportation of commodities and goods increased to N188.03 million, up by 105.04 per cent from N91.70 million received in Q2 2022.
