Pastor Greg Sagie, a Pentecostal pastor, was assassinated in his house by a possible church member.

According to reports, the suspect attacked Pastor Sagie with a machete on Thursday in Sapele, Delta State.

At the pipeline area of MTN Road, the 60-year-old cleric was dozing off in his bedroom when the assailant broke down the door and threatened his two children, aged eight and eleven, who were in the living room.

As they fled the house in terror, the kids screamed for rescue.

The location was remote and had few homes, according to a source who claimed to have been among those who transported Pastor Sagie’s body to the mortuary and his neighbour.

He claimed that they overheard the children shouting that their father was being attacked inside by someone using a machete.

The source said, “We ran out and saw the attacker. He was a young man in his 20s. He threatened us that if we dared to climb the storey building to meet him, he would kill us. He then jumped from the storey building and fled.”

The source added that the children identified the attacker as a member of their church.

“The children told us he was a member of their church and that they recognised him. They even described where he lived,” the source said.
