In a recent development, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an impersonator who had been masquerading as a Police Commissioner, deceiving the public.

The arrest was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the command, during a briefing for journalists on September 11. The suspect, identified as Emmanuel, was taken into custody on September 2 around 4:40 p.m. when he visited a police station in the Ikorodu area, introducing himself as a Commissioner of Police.

Initially, Emmanuel was taken at his word, but suspicions arose during questioning, leading to his exposure as an impersonator. A subsequent search of his residence yielded a Deputy Commissioner of Police warrant card, an Assistant Commissioner of Police warrant card, a Kenwood walkie-talkie, a police camouflage singlet, and a face cap.

Items discovered in his possession included a portrait with the inscription “Bello Law Firm Office,” as well as documents related to various legal matters.
