Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor of Lagos State in 2023, has opened a new business there.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the politician on Monday introduced the ‘Health for All Kosofe’ microinsurance programme in the state’s Kosofe Local Government Area.
According to Rhodes-Vivour, the facility aims to close the healthcare gap in the underserved neighbourhood by giving the locals who are struggling financially access to inexpensive health insurance.

He claims that in order to assure full coverage, the insurance programme will construct community health facilities, subsidise rates for low-income households, and form relationships with regional healthcare providers.
The Labour Party member declared access to basic healthcare for the inhabitants of Kosofe to be a fundamental human right and promised to do his best to make that happen.
Residents in Kosofe, many of whom had apparently struggled to receive proper healthcare due to financial constraints, were delighted by Rhodes-Vivour’s gift.
According to a resident mentioned in the Daily Sun, Rhodes-Vivour deserves credit for the gesture as well as for his dedication to the community’s healthcare requirements and social welfare.

The locals thought the project may upend the local political landscape and possibly open the door for a comeback of the Labour Party or other opposition organisations in the region.
They claim that the APC is the subject of more scrutiny and is under increasing pressure to respond with its own initiatives to address the healthcare challenges facing Kosofe.
Monye Morris, a Labour Party member and volunteer who apparently spoke to the media, claimed that the entry into healthcare has paved the way for a new sort of populist politics free of tokenism.
He said, “The kind of commendation and prayers we have been getting shows that this initiative promises to be a turning point in the local narrative of not just Kosofe but the entire Lagos politics.”
After his defeat in the 2023 governorship election in March, the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is alleged to have called the health insurance programme a political gimmick to stay relevant in Lagos State.
