In the council chamber of the State House in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with a team led by Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC chairman.

The PUNCH learned that the attendees will provide a document with important recommendations on preventing farmer-herder confrontations nationwide, even though the meeting’s agenda is not yet known to the public.

According to a source who talked with our correspondent, the meeting—which got underway at 3 p.m. local time—requires the military chiefs’ attendance because it touches on matters of national security.

Since 1999, farmer-herder conflicts in Nigeria have claimed thousands of lives as disputes over arable land resources between herders and farmers festers in the country’s North Central.
