Police Confirm Beheading Of LP Chieftain In Abia

Mr. Zachary Maduka, a Labour Party campaign director for the state’s 2023 elections in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, has been declared dead by the Abia State Police.

Maduka, a 70-year-old inhabitant of the community of Ezieke Akpukpa, was beheaded on Wednesday night by unidentified males.
The event was confirmed in a statement made available to our correspondent on Thursday by the state’s police public relations officer, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka.

She emphasized that inquiries were presently being conducted to identify individuals responsible for the heinous act.

The statement read, “Mr. Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa community.
“Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising police and army personnel were swiftly dispatched to the scene.

“Tragically, they recovered Mr. Maduka’s lifeless body. Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu”.
Maduka was the home branch chairman of Uturu Development Union.
It was gathered that the assailants numbering about 10 wielded pump action guns, cutlasses, and several other weapons had shot him dead at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa community.

The victim was reportedly dragged on the floor before he was finally beheaded and his head taken away by his killers.
