Fix Failed Portion Of Jibowu Flyover Before It Becomes Too Late – Lagos Residents Tells Umahi

Residents and drivers in Lagos State have voiced alarm over the Jibowu Flyover failure and called the minister of works, Dave Umahi, and the deputy governor of Lagos, Obafemi Hamzat, to take immediate action to stop any potential loss of life or property in the state.

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, the failed section of the flyover is broken apart and can be seen to the side as one travels towards Ikorodu Road.

The flyover’s problematic area is between Jibowu by Total Fuel Station/Fadeyi BRT, inward Ojuelegba, along Ikorodu Road, and the state’s Surulere Local Government Area.

A resident, Florence Philips, who spoke with Vanguard, said: “Please let us help our state to avoid any bad incidents from occurring. Please let us escalate this to relevant authorities at the Federal and state level, in particular, the Minister for Works, Umahi and Deputy Governor in the state, Dr Obafemi Hamzat to do the needful now before it is too late.”

Additionally, the state government has been requested by locals and drivers in the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area, or LCDA, in Alimosho to repair the rapidly deteriorating culvert at the Ikotun market on the Ikotun-Egbe Road.

Hassan Kabiru, a concerned local citizen and motorist, pleaded with the authorities to repair the culvert to stop an approaching catastrophe.

He said: “The government should focus on the Ikotun Market canal culvert as it is a vital link from Ikotun to other parts of the Mainland and Island.

“It is a section of the Canal road at Ikotun Market, inward Synagogue Church from Ikotun roundabout. It’s been like this for years and disaster is sure waiting to happen if nothing is done to fix it.

“It’s also one of the causes of the perennial traffic as one of the lanes has been cut-off.”
