According to recent reports, Godswill Akpabio’s Senate presidency is embroiled in controversy because some northern senators fear he won’t be able to stop what they refer to as the “Yorubanization” of the nation’s banking and economic system.
According to numerous conspiracy theories, some senators are allegedly preparing Akpabio’s removal, Anaedoonline.ng learns.
The Senate, on the other hand, denied the allegations and insisted that Akpabio is the unanimous leader of the legislators.

Despite the denial, new information from Daily Sun claims that some senators are upset with the senate leader because of his failure to deal with some influential interest groups, particularly some petrol importers and the electricity distribution companies, regarding some proposed financial deals bordering on a 40 percent increase in electricity rates and the payment of back taxes to fuel importers.
Former governors from the North and at least one from the South-South are said to be among the senators who are said to have banded together with the goal of opposing Senator Akpabio.
As part of its formal debut, the organisation has named Senator Elisha Abbo of the APC from Adamawa North as the face of the group.
Abbo charged Akpabio with marginalising his opponents in the leadership race and their supporters when it came to the distribution of committee positions over the weekend in newspaper interviews.

The biggest concern, according to sources within the group, is that Akpabio might not be able to stop the current Yorubanization of the financial system.
The source, who requested anonymity, made reference to recent appointments of Yoruba leadership at the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Customs, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and other agencies.
“Yes, the reason why you can see that Northerners are mostly involved is that most of those being removed and replaced with Yoruba are northerners,” the source further revealed.
Further information revealed that the senators’ goal is to install a Senate president who they feel will checkmate President Bola Tinubu.
