Akwa Ibom Police Command Neutralizes Two Armed Robbers and Arrests One

In a swift response to a distress call, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has taken action against armed robbers in the state capital, Uyo. The incident occurred on the night of September 19th, around 1:50 am, when a report of armed robbery was received in the Uyo area.

The police’s Quick Response Unit promptly sprang into action and engaged the armed robbers in a gunfight upon arriving at the scene. During the confrontation, two of the suspected robbers sustained fatal injuries, while another individual, identified as Godswill Isaac, was successfully apprehended.

Among the items recovered from the arrested suspect were four locally made pistols, 15 live cartridges, two expanded cartridges, a large iron cutter, two machetes, and a dagger. In addition, two plasma televisions, one woofer MP3, an HP computer laptop, ten Android phones, five smaller phones, N15,700 in cash, and eight dollars were also seized.

Many victims of the robberies visited the police command to identify and reclaim their belongings, which had been stolen during previous incidents.

In a separate operation, the anti-kidnapping squad of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested two notorious armed robbers: Gospel Effiong, also known as Python, and Solomon Okon, known as Eblem. These individuals were apprehended on charges of robbery and rape. During questioning, both suspects admitted to being part of a robbery gang responsible for robbing unsuspecting commuters in tricycles and mini-buses in the Uyo area.

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, has issued a stern warning to criminal elements operating in the state. He emphasized that the police are determined to keep Akwa Ibom safe and will not tolerate criminal activities within its jurisdiction.
