On Friday, a number of Kano State residents—some of whom are thought to be NNPP supporters—came out in protest against the election petition tribunal’s decision to remove Governor Yusuf Abba.
Remember that on Wednesday, the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed Abba after a three-person panel, presided over by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, revoked the Certificate of Return that INEC had given to Yusuf.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasir Gawuna was also proclaimed the victor of the March 18 governorship election by the tribunal.

The NNPP received 1,019,602 votes, according to the INEC, defeating the APC, whose candidate received 890,705 votes.
The tribunal, who removed 165,663 votes from the NNPP because the margin of votes the party received was unlawful and not in accordance with the 2022 electoral statute, also ruled that the 165,663 voters’ ballots were not stamped or signed, making them void.
The state government issued a 24-hour curfew on Wednesday as a result of the verdict.
However, Anaedoonline.ng learned that NNPP supporters took to the streets on Friday to express their rage over the verdict and accuse the judiciary of unfairness.
They carried signs that read, among other things, “Gandollar, leave the judiciary alone,” “The people of Kano demand justice,” and “It’s Abba that we want.”

The demonstrators demanded that the ruling be reviewed and added that they would not tolerate any sort of injustice from anyone.
“We voted for Abba, not any other person, therefore, nobody should ever think of going against our will,” they said.
