Igbo Day: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Asks Ndigbo To Pray For Peace, Security In South East

In order to restore peace and security in the Southeast, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has encouraged Ndigbos to pray.

While denouncing the most recent killing rampage and massacre in Imo State and other areas of the region, Ohanaeze made the call.

Before this year’s Igbo Day celebration, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, made the decision.

Isiguzoro urged “Ndigbo to pray for God’s intervention to restore peace and security across the country, especially in the southeast and Imo State in particular.”

Igbo residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, met for a prayer session and thanksgiving service on September 23, 2023, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo planned the event as a part of the buildup to the Igbo Day celebration’s Grand Finale, which was slated to take place at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt on September 29.

Many Igbo individuals, including Prince Richard Ozobu, the head of the Elders Forum, and leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Professor Thomas Amadi Ellah, attended the service.

Professor Ellah expressed his happiness in his introductory remarks that despite the insecurity issues and other obstacles “facing the Igbo people, they had every reason to be thankful to Chukwu Okike Abiama (Almighty God) for His faithfulness and mercy.”

He mentioned how Ndigbo had endured and persevered over the seven Igbo-speaking states, including Rivers State and Anioma in Delta State, and that this was a cause for celebration.
