The plea was made by Mr. Wike in his Independence Day speech in Abuja on Sunday. He emphasized the need for teamwork in creating a strong and resilient society.

It entails collaborating to handle the problems that face us, whether they pertain to infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, or the provision of healthcare. It entails encouraging an entrepreneurial and innovative culture that empowers our kids and opens doors for everyone, according to the former Rivers governor. We are not just Nigerians, but also ambassadors for the variety and cohesion of our country as FCT inhabitants.

Mr Wike reiterated the FCT Administration’s dedication to enhancing the infrastructural development of the FCT and improving essential social services to meet the growing needs of residents. He, however, noted that the task could not be accomplished by the FCTA alone.

“It is a collective endeavour that requires the active participation and commitment of every resident. In this regard, I implore all residents to fulfil their civic responsibilities by paying their taxes promptly, including ground rent and utility bills,” explained the minister.

Mr Wike added, “These contributions are crucial for sustaining and enhancing the services and infrastructure that make our city function smoothly.”

“Today, as the FCT minister, I want to call upon each resident of the territory to rededicate themselves to the vision of a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria. Let us be reminded, therefore, of our obligation to society; our responsibilities as citizens extend beyond our rights.”

He said, in Abuja, “where diversity is our strength, let us also remember our unique role as residents” and live up to the tenets of unity that our capital represents.”

Mr Wike urged building “bridges across cultures, religions, and ethnicities” as “we strive to make Abuja a great city.”
“I call upon every resident to join hands with us,” the minister said.
