On Sunday, 16 people were involved in an accident at the Magboro Bus Stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that resulted in the death of an unidentified man.

It was reported that seven additional passengers were hurt in the incident, which happened at roughly 7.50 am.
According to reports, the collision involved two vehicles, a Mercedes ML350 with the license plate AKD424HH and a Volkswagen commercial bus with the license plate KSF934YA.

According to an eyewitness, Opeyemi Lateef, the accident occurred when the Mercedes Benz collided with a commercial bus that was parked at the bus stop while trying to avoid a road user.“What happened was that the driver of this Benz tried to avoid hitting a road user who wanted to cross the road which resulted in a loss of control, thereby colliding with the commercial bus while its driver was waiting for passengers at the bus stop,” she said.

Another eyewitness who did not want his name in print attributed the cause of the accident to indiscriminate parking of commercial vehicles at the bus stop and speeding.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident, attributing it to speeding.
