Burna Boy and Fireboy DML, two prominent musicians from Nigeria, have been named winners at the 2023 BMI London Awards.
The ‘Most Performed Work of the Year’ honors, which were given to more than 20 tracks, included the two artists.
The songs “Last Last” by Burna Boy and “Peru” by Fireboy featuring British singer Ed Sheeran were included.
Richard Isong, alias P2J, a different Nigerian record producer, won the ‘Impact Award.’
British legend, Gary Kemp bagged the ‘Icon Award’ while American singer Doja Cat’s afrobeat-themed song, ‘Woman’, won the ‘Song of the Year’ award.
