The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee for president in 2023, Atiku Abubakar, requested that his presidential flagbearer, Rabiu Kwankwaso, join his effort to contest the election of President Bola Tinubu at the Supreme Court. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has rejected this request.

This was said by Prince Nwaeze Onu, the NNPP’s acting Deputy National Chairman, to media on Saturday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Recall that Atiku asked Chicago State University (CSU) to provide President Tinubu’s diploma so he could use it to support his Supreme Court appeal.

Kwankwaso Silent On Atiku’s Call To Fight Tinubu Over Certificate Saga

Due to concerns that the certificate Tinubu gave to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) might not be genuine, the former vice president sorted the credentials.

Following the publication of the documents, Atiku had last Thursday called on Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Kwakwanso to join him in exposing the inconsistencies in Tinubu’s academic records during a World Press Conference held in Abuja.

Onu, however, asserts that Kwankwaso should stay out of his legal dispute with President Tinubu and does not want to be involved in his pursuit of justice.

In contrast to Atiku and the PDP, he claimed, the NNPP is not a party to any legal proceedings and would not want to be perceived as interfering in a matter it is not a party to.

The NNPP, according to Onu, opted not to appeal to the court out of its love for Nigeria and should not be drawn into matters affecting other parties.
