Supreme Court Fixes Date To Hear Atiku’s Petition Against Tinubu’s Victory

The Supreme Court in Abuja has set Monday, October 23rd, to hear the case of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against the win of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February presidential elections.

This comes almost two weeks after PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar addressed a news conference in Abuja about the legality and authenticity of President Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University.

Atiku had promised to fight the Sept. 6 tribunal verdict, which validated President Tinubu’s election as the winner of the Feb. 25 Presidential election.

The hearing notification, issued by Zainab M. Garba, was published by PDP chairman Dele Momodu via his Twitter platform X on Thrusday..

Meanwhile, the Eastern Union, a Nigerian pro-democracy organisation, has stated that the issue of alleged certificate fraud involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu puts the Nigerian courts on trial.

In an interview with The Whistler, EU National President Charles Anike encouraged the judiciary to follow the norms set by the US judiciary in the matter of certificate fraud.

Anike also urged the Nigerian judiciary to take positive lessons from the transparent manner in which Atiku’s case was handled in the United States.

Tinubu Asks Supreme Court To Discard Chicago State University’s Deposition

Remember that on September 19, 2023, Magistrate Jeffrey Gilbert of the United States ordered Chicago State University to release President Tinubu’s findings to Abubakar.

The case was eventually heard by a senior judge, Nancy Maldonado, who ruled in favour of Atiku, rejecting Tinubu’s stay of execution petitions.
