Supreme Court Speaks On Presidential Tribunal Judges Withdrawing From Panel

Reports that several of its judges had withdrawn from the panel assigned to hear appeals against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory on February 25, 2023, have been refuted by the Supreme Court.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) are all petitioning the Supreme Court to overturn Tinubu’s victory.

The applications will be heard by the supreme court today, Monday, October 23, 2023.

Panic As Supreme Court Set To Begin Hearing On Tinubu, Atiku, Obi Appeal

However, some platforms reported five of the seven-member panel of justices had resigned and refused to serve because of an apparent crisis in the supreme court before to the court session.

However, the Director of Press and Information for the Supreme Court, Dr. Festus Akande, said that such allegations were untrue because all panel members were present and prepared to hear the petition on Monday (today).

“This is not true. The panel is ready. You will see all the Justices tomorrow (today). There is no crisis anywhere, as claimed by those online platforms.

“I assure you that the panel is intact and will hear the appeals on Monday,” Akande said.
