Declare Rotimi Akeredolu Unfit To Remain Governor and Declare Him Incapacitated
The Ondo State Executive Council has been encouraged to declare Governor Rotimi Akeredolu unable to continue serving as the state’s leader due to his deteriorating health, according to a group of lawyers and concerned residents.
According to the lawyers’ statement, the request was submitted in compliance with section 189 of the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 (as amended), and they also noted that the governor’s protracted absence has hampered the state’s socioeconomic development.
The statement read, “Some lawyers of Ondo State origin have demanded the Ondo State Executive Council to comply with the provisions of Section 189 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) by declaring that the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN is incapacitated and unable to perform the functions of his office.”
