Legislators in the Labour Party (LP) who want to accept the N160 million official vehicle from the senate in spite of warnings will eventually have to answer to the people for their actions, according to Yunusa Tanko, the spokesman for the party’s presidential campaign committee.
Remember how Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Liberal Party, had denounced the SUV that was being given to every member of the House of Representatives and then pushed party legislators to refuse the presents?
In response to the party chairman’s accusation, Tanko added that the MPs who take the gifts would be held accountable for their actions in the subsequent election.

This was said by Tanko in an interview with The Sun.
According to him, “Those of them who collect the SUV despite the directive of the party will have to give account to the people in their next election. Labour Party is not the one that will vote during the election, we only provide the platform.
“Therefore, if the platform is saying that collecting the SUV is contrary to the constitution, the manifesto, the mantra, and the ideology of the Labour Party, the electorate will have to decide whether those contesting for office on the platform deserve to win election.
“The electorate will decide who wins election and who does not because if the elected representatives don’t do those things that would protect their interests, then the electorate will not get value from the representatives.”
