According to Bernard Onuoha, the commissioner of police for Kogi State, nearly 40,000 security guards would be called into action for the state’s upcoming governorship election on November 11.
Since this is an off-season election, he said, there would be sufficient cops for the upcoming governorship race.
The head of Kogi State police reportedly made this revelation at his office at the state command headquarters in Lokoja, the state capital, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Although Onuoha could not provide a precise number, he was certain that at least 40,000 personnel would be mobilised.
The police chief expressed concern over the recent wave of violence in the state before the elections, but added that higher authorities had been informed and were working tirelessly to make sure that the threats were not actualised.
He told Newsmen, “Because the election is an off-season one, we will have enough officers available for mobilisation for effective coverage due to the volatile nature of Kogi State elections.

“There has been ample evidence that the election will be volatile in some flash point areas already identified, particularly in Kogi East, such as Olamaboro, Dekina, Ejule and in the Central such as Adavi, Obehira, Obangede and others areas, we will take a close watch to ensure there is peaceful election.”
The CP also mentioned that the Attah of Igala, with whom he had met, had promised him cooperation both before and after the election.
