Tinubu Writes Reps, Seeks Approval Of N2.1 Trillion 2023 Budget

In a letter to the House of Representatives, President Bola Tinubu requested approval for the N2.1 trillion 2023 supplemental budget.

Channels Television reports that the House of Representatives received the President’s 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework & Fiscal Strategy Paper for approval.

On Monday, the N2.1 trillion 2023 supplemental budget, which addresses labour wage revisions, security, and other issues, was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The budget is to finance the above-mentioned pressing concerns, according to Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, who made this statement following the FEC meeting in Abuja.

In order to maintain and accelerate the security achievements, he continued, N605 billion of the monies will be used for national defence and security. The security agencies require these funds before the year ends.

Bagudu said that funding will be provided to continue the previous agricultural progress, and that the budget will also cover funding for student loans and the wages awarded to Federal Government employees for a period of four months.

The minister stated that N18 billion of the supplemental budget was authorised by the federal government for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold the off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi State the following month.
