PDP Governors to Meet Nyesom Wike Amid Rivers State Political Crisis

Governors affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have scheduled a meeting with Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory. The decision comes in the wake of political turmoil in Rivers State, sparked by a reported attempt by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the sitting governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, issued a statement lauding the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in resolving the political crisis in Rivers State.

The main objectives of the visit to Nyesom Wike include:
  1. Reconciliation: The meeting aims to reconcile various factions within the PDP and foster unity among its members.
  2. Mediation: It will serve as a platform for mediating disputes and finding common ground to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

The statement, delivered by Cyril Maduabum, Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, revealed that the decision to visit Nyesom Wike was reached during the forum’s meeting. The meeting is set to take place in the Federal Capital Territory Minister’s office.
