Anambra: Irate Mob Set Ablaze Two Suspected Criminals In Onitsha

An enraged mob on Wednesday allegedly set two suspected criminals who were terrorising residents of Sokoto Road on fire. This was first reported by Anaedoonline.ng.

Before lighting the culprits on fire, the protesters lynched them. An eyewitness who confirmed the incident with Daily Trust said the suspects were caught attempting to steal goods and money from a tricycle operator within the market.

“The tricycle operator had dropped his passengers and their goods in the market, and as he was about to move, those boys approached him and were forcefully attempting to dispossess him of his money and others before the mobs descended on them, lynched them before setting them ablaze,” the eyewitness reportedly said.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the state police, told reporters that the incident had occurred. In order to ensure that the proper measures are taken, he stated that Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye disapproved of the behaviour and reiterated his plea that members of the public bring criminals to the nearest police station.
