Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello reportedly offered Senator Elect Natasha Akpoti N50 million in exchange for her resignation in favour of his chosen candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District election in 2019.

In an interview on Wednesday’s Arise TV Morning Show, Akpoti made this accusation. She disclosed that the bribe was made to her in 2018 when she was running for the All Progressives Congress senatorial ticket, and that the governor had increased the amount to N70 million.

Bello does not like to be dared, Akpoti implied, claiming that the governor was yearning to be a godfather and that he always wanted his words to be law.

“In 2018 before I joined the SDP and contested for the senatorial seat, I was in APC for pretty much three months, and I will say this, the governor called on me just like he called on 9 other aspirants at that time and telling each and everyone to step down, to some people he offered money, he offered me money as well,” she said.
