In response to news that the Nigerian Navy has accepted delivery of the N5 billion presidential yacht that was included in the 2023 supplemental budget that was presented to the National Assembly, Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the Africa Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election, has responded.

As previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, the Nigerian Navy’s Director of Information, claimed in a Friday interview with PUNCH that the yacht had been in the nation since June 2023.

According to Ayo-Vaughan, the service under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration insisted that the presidential boat be replaced for training purposes.

He went on to say that the delay in using the yacht was caused by his inability to pay for it.

In response, Sowere released an interview with Borno State politician Ali Ndume on X on Saturday. Notwithstanding the president’s denial, Ndume claimed the yacht had been delivered prior to the public uproar.

He maintained that even con artists are unable to outwit the government’s lies, as seen by the multiple revisions to the story surrounding the presidential boat.

He wrote: “These @officialABAT scammers won’t rest thinking most Nigerians are foolish, the story has changed so many times about the #YachtGate that even that the scammers can’t cope with their lies.”
